Safety Window Film
Our Safety/Security window films up-grade sub standard glazing to meet the requirements of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulation 1992 and Regulation 14 1996. Safety and security films are also specified to provide solutions to many other glass related safety problems including bomb blast protection.
If glass is not toughened or laminated it is extremely fragile and very dangerous. Glass will break if fallen against and glass shards resulting from breakage can cause injury and possibly death. It is necessary not only to protect against injury but against the possibility of legal action which might follow an accident see our section Regs & Standards.
Anti-Shatter Film
 – we have available to us an extensive range of safety films which are tested to comply with BSEN 12600 class 1b (formerly BS6206 Class ‘A’) and BSEN 12600 class 2b (formerly BS6206 Class ‘B’) and are designed to hold shattered glass in place. Safety/security window films are designed to hold shattered glass in place in the event of a breakage. Breakage can be caused by vandals, burglars, terrorists or even just storms.
Safety/security window film applied to glass will hold the glass in place even after impact with items such as baseball bat, brick or even help to reduce the effect of explosion.
There are various grades of safety/security window films which include combined solar grades which have the added benefits of solar control.
Bomb Blast Film
– we have available to us an extensive range of bomb blast films which are tested to comply with BSEN 12600 class 1b (formerly BS6206 Class ‘A’) and BSEN 12600 class 2b (formerly BS6206 Class ‘B’) and are designed to reduce the terrifying effect and damage caused by flying glass in the event of explosion.
Numerous companies have seen the benefit of installing bomb blast film after seeing what devastation flying glass can cause from past atrocities. Many films fitted in the 1980's and early 1990's have reached the end of their useful life and, subject to current security requirements, should be replaced. Deficiencies include poor adhesion, loss of strength and embrittlement due to ultra violet degradation. Although some of these films may have some effective life left many of films are only 100 micron (.004") compared to the current minimum recommendation of at least 175 micron (.007") in thickness.
As part of our glazing protection appraisal we can test the efficacy of such films using methods as developed by the PSA/SPS/EEB. The latest safety security films, as well as having a 'longer life', are available not only in clear but in a range of reflective and tinted shades. Reducing excess sunlight means that visibility can be improved on computer screens by stopping visible glare which when reduced helps to combat eyestrain and associated headaches in the workplace.
Bomb blast film will not prevent glass breaking but it will stop it from traveling any significant distance and which can effectively halve the distance that a building’s glazing is safe from a lorry bomb to just 100 metres.

Security Film
– we have available to us an extensive range of security films including privacy (daylight and black out) plus anti-graffiti films. Our security films are also specified to provide solutions to many glass related safety problems including bomb blast protection.
Our wide range of security window films not only upgrade sub-standard glazing but give increased glazing security protecting against deliberate attack such as vandalisation. The films contain glass fragments caused by glass breakage thus reducing the risk of damage by vandalism, break in, riot.
Manifestation Film
– existing glazing must be appropriately marked or featured so as to make it apparent and thus avoid risk of collision because it is not properly visible. We have available to us a variety of films and manifestation designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but conform to the current regulations.
The Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992 state that the risk of collision with clear glazing must be avoided by using appropriate markings and it is a legal requirement to have all relevant existing glazing made impact safe and be so marked. This is incorporated into the Building Regulations BS 6262 Part 4, Safety, Human Impact. Its effect is to prevent serious injury to persons through accidental collision with glazing at work.
Every window or glazed area in a wall, partition, door or gate shall be of safety material or be protected against breakage ie. it should not break on impact or should break safely. In particular large uninterrupted areas of glazing where people might reasonably think they can walk straight through. Manifestation window film can be decorative and designs can be created to reinforce your corporate image or to get your message across.
Document M of the Building Regulations covering access to and use of buildings' states that manifestation should be at least 50 mm wide and positioned at two levels. The lower level should be between 850 mm and 1000 mm from finished floor level and the higher from 1400 mm and 1600 mm
